So there’s this baby, see? And he has a rare genetic ailment, a one-in-a-million kinda thing. And yet S C I E N C E comes along and saves his ass… how? By changing a letter in his genetic coding across the cells of his body.
And it worked. The defective little tyke was given a new lease on life, quite literally. Vast amounts of technology and medical expertise went into making this parental dream a reality, and now we have Frankenstein Jr. on our hands.
It’s just a matter of time before normal babies are modified. That’s the biggest problem. The other problem is the survival and propagation of absolutely sub-par genetic specimens of mankind. But let’s deal with the biggest problem first.
Parents like to think they own their babies, lock, stock & barrel. They’re used to commanding the little rugrats, used to thinking “on their behalf.” It would not surprise me in the least if overzealous parents didn’t have a whole fucking laundry list of changes and “improvements” they would like to make in “their” child.
Not just shit like that movie Gattaca, where Ethan Hawke plays an invalid who wants to go in the space program but has a shitty ticker and no specially good genes. But things like the color of their eyes. You have a black power couple and they want blue eyes and blond hair for their child? Presto-chango. *snaps fingers* The genes are now encoded for that.
One can easily imagine whole encyclopedias of genetic letters being rearranged, resorted, newly reinstalled. Why stop with a measly 3 or 4 changes when you can get your baby just right? Random chance is so, like, yesterday.
The falseness of these babies would be staggering. I’m not sure if the changes would be reproduced in the next generation — the informative article wasn’t clear on that — but I wouldn’t be surprised if sperm/ova were altered too.
On a less dramatic note, do we really want shit-ass poor babies surviving to reproduce their shit-ass poor genes? Death is often a good solution to life’s little problems. Not every darling infant deserves to grow up to be a drain on the taxpayer, and establisher of a line of drainers-on-the-T.P. Plus, whereas more Greg Nikolics would enhance the gene pool tremendously, more of these defectives would drag everybody down.
Let them die. Encourage them in the grandest traditions of euthanasia. I have no sympathy for them. All life is not sacred. We’re not in a Zen Buddhist monastery. And that saying “Every Child Matters”? That’s false too.

Come to think of it, with all the strange things in the world, it wouldn’t even be that strange to imagine these things 🤔🤦♂️🤷♂️🙄
