|poem| Victory

This poem fits my heart to a T. It is a paean to winning. And winning it all. Unlike the music group Rush’s song “Bravado,” which celebrates attempts at greatness that lead to failure, “Victory” by Greg Nikolic exults in attempts at greatness that WIN. Take your own message from it.

  • The world ends in a crash
  • Everything lists sideways
  • Porcelain falls off shelves for days
  • It is as if everything has been hit by a lash
  • The runners enter a mad dash
  • I am definitely in the far lead
  • The thrill like penetrating a hot chick with my seed
  • This win is as good as cash
  • The results of this win suddenly explode
  • The opponents’ heads turn back, recoil
  • Their hearts do a double take and implode
  • I have brought their sorrowful hearts to a boil
  • These enemies of mine are on their knees
  • For a look of mercy from me, they will do anything to please
